Making Colloidal Silver

I have just started to make my own colloidal silver. If you like to make your own there are a lot of helpful video clips on YouTube.

Items Needed to Make a Generator:

– One 12 volt power adaptor from an old cordless phone.
– A pair of alligator clips.
– Two pure silver rods. ( You can purchase them on Trademe )
– One wooden spatula.

Assemble Generator
1. Cut off the plug from the end of the power adaptor cord and attach one clip to each wire.
2. Make two small holes about 1.5 -2 inches apart on the spatula.
3. Make a bend on each rod and then insert the rods in the holes that you have just made.
4. Attach the alligator clips, one to each rod. (Do NOT plug in the power adaptor into the mains at this stage)

Process:

You will need distilled water (Don’t use tap water). I purchased PureDew water from FoodTown, $2.79 for 3lts. Wash a glass container out thoroughly and rinse it out a couple of times with a bit of the distilled water. Pour in the distilled water and heat it. You can use a microwave to do this, just make sure that the glass container can withstand the heat. You will need to re-heat the water a few times during the process if you use a microwave. I have just started to use the heat pad from a coffee maker to heat the water. I understand that by heating the water, this reduces the reaction time and also helps to stir the solution. Place the two rods into the water and make sure that the rods do not touch. Then plug in the power adaptor. My first successful batch of about 200mls took me about 1hr 20 mins. You know that you have been successful when the solution turns slightly yellow. You will find that a black coating will start to form on the rods, you can wipe this off with a paper towel. Just make sure that you unplug the power adaptor each time you move the rods. NEVER let the rods touch each other when connected to the mains power.

Note:

When I first started making colloidal silver I tried using water from my water filter. As soon as I  started the process, within seconds the solution started to go very cloudy.  I think this was due to the contaminants in the water. Definately need distilled water for this process.

Happy brewing.
